Laurence Macia
I did my PhD from 2003- 2006 at the Pasteur Institute of Lille in France and was interested in how obesity impacted on the immune response. After I graduated, I did a post doc from 2007 to 2010 at the Garvan Institute, Sydney, focusing on type 2 diabetes and activation of the immune system in the white adipose tissue. Finally, I’ve been a research fellow since 2010 at Monash University in the lab of with Pr Charles Mackay. I am interested in understanding the mechanisms behind the beneficial role of dietary fibre and fatty acids in inflammatory diseases (inflammatory bowel disease, infection and allergies) by studying both impact of diet on the gut microbiota and on gut immunity.
