Ele Ferrannini
Ele Ferrannini got his MD degree from the University of Pisa. He spent a year as a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Clinical Physiology of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and three years as a Fogarty International Research Fellow at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, USA. Back in Italy, he has worked both at the National Reserach Council (CNR) Institute of Clinical Physiology, where he currently is Chief of the Metabolism Unit, and at the Department of Medicine of the University of Pisa School of Medicine, where he now is Professor of Internal Medicine; he is also Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Interested in most aspects of diabetes, he has authored or co-authored over 500 original papers and 50 book chapters. He is on the list (ISIHighlyCited.com) of highly cited scientists.
