Advances in genetic technologies over the last decade have yielded massive amounts of genetic data, enabling genome-wide association studies and assembly of thousands of individual genomes.  This has allowed unprecedented discoveries of genes that contribute to the risk of disease. However, few of these results have translated into improving clinical treatments for common complex genetic diseases like diabetes. In this presentation, I will discuss the strengths and limitations of the use of such genetic data.
