An abundance of applications (apps) for self management of diabetes are now available for different platforms and most are free.  Diabetes clinicians should be familiar with popular apps and also know how to identify apps which are appropriate, credible and reliable.  Collaboration with diabetes health professionals identified a range of apps they use in diabetes care for issues such as weight management, carbohydrate counting, insulin dosing and blood glucose recording.  An evaluation tool was developed, pilot tested and validated and a catalogue of suitable diabetes apps has been developed (available on ACT Health website). This presentation will showcase some of the popular applications which are available and is for beginners with the aim of increasing confidence in use of apps for diabetes education and self management.
