Clinical Nurse Consultant for Chronic Conditions in the Great Southern Western Australia, Shirley has been a registered nurse since 1970 and a diabetes educator since 1984 becoming a CDE in 1985, completing a Grad Diploma of Human Nutrition in 1995 and Advanced Diploma of Health Service Management in 1997. Shirley has worked in a variety of positions associated with diabetes education, management and care across 4 states, the ACT, NSW, Tasmania and currently in Western Australia working primarily in rural areas, Since moving to Western Australia in 2000 Shirley has been employed by WA Country Health Service, working in both clinical and health service development and management positions. Shirley has been an active member of ADEA at National, State and local levels.
