Nurse Practitioner and Credentialled Diabetes Educator working full time in General Practice for the past six years. Over twenty six years of experience of delivery of diabetes education and management across a broad spectrum of environments and cultures. Has worked in private practice, Non Profit Organisations, Tribal run Health care Consortiums and Government entities in the area of diabetes education. Clinical experience remote rural medicine, intensive care, diabetes and primary care. Presents at conferences routinely and published journal articles on the topic of Diabetes Education in Australia. Was guest speaker at Annual ADS ADEA 2014 Melbourne Conference on CDE model of Diabetes Education in General Practice. Nominated Guest Speaker at the International Diabetes World Conference in Melbourne in 2013. Areas of interest are team care health models embedded in general practice, nurse practitioner roles in general practice, weight management, latent autoimmune diabetes of the adult and insulin self management by patients with Type 2 Diabetes. Chief Investigator with the University of Wollongong, currently concluding a research project which is the development and validation of tool to assess the skills and knowledge of patients on insulin with Type 2 Diabetes. Currently working on admission for Ph.D around patient experience in weight management and health care provider engagement.
