Alison Lancaster

Alison is an accredited practising dietitian and credentialled diabetes educator working with the ACT Health Diabetes Service. She leads a team of diabetes dietitians and also provides professional supervision to dietitians working in obesity management and with Diabetes ACT. Alison participates in committees with key stake holders in diabetes management to improve primary care capacity and care co-ordination for complex diabetes care across the ACT. Today’s presentation is the result of nutrition student project work on the topic of empowerment through technology, focussing on diabetes websites and applications. This research was initiated after observing the decreasing age of people newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and working with children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
