Teresa Pearson

Teresa Pearson, a Master’s prepared RN and Certified Diabetes Educator is owner of Innovative Health Care Designs and a Clinical Consultant for Halleland Habicht Consulting where she is currently facilitating the implementation of patient-centered medical homes at various primary care sites and is integral in the development of a virtual accountable care organization in Southwestern Minnesota. Previously, Teresa was the Director, Diabetes Care for Fairview Health Services where she provided direction and oversight for diabetes care services in over 40 primary care sites with 20 diabetes educators and 12 pharmacists. Teresa’s diabetes experience spans 25 years. Prior to Fairview she was Director of Professional Education while at the International Diabetes Center and then Advisor for Diabetes Care at HealthPartners. Teresa has served on numerous editorial boards and advisory boards and committees including the Executive Board for the American Association of Diabetes Educators; Past-President of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Diabetes Educators; various committees of the American Diabetes Association; the Therapeutic Patient Education Congress of Europe; a longstanding member of the Minnesota Diabetes Control and Prevention Program Steering Committee, and a member of the editorial board for The Diabetes Educator, and International Diabetes Monitor. Currently she is the Editor-in-Chief of AADE In Practice and is a Master Trainer for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Diabetes Prevention Program. Teresa is a frequent guest speaker nationally and internationally having delivered well over 1000 presentations and has written over 50 publications on the subject matter of clinical diabetes care, facilitating behavior change, screening and the prevention of diabetes, and team management of diabetes as well as health care reform issues. While at HealthPartners, Teresa received the President’s Award as well as an award of Special Recognition for her work in clinical quality improvement in diabetes care and the Best Practice Award from the American Medical Group Association for innovation in diabetes care while at Fairview. She has been named a Fellow of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and was a 2010 nominee for the Bruce Zimmerman award at the Minnesota State Department of Health.
